hiring_graphicThe Engagement Coordinator is a PAID POSITION primarily responsible for assisting the Media Democracy Project (MDP) in a ‘crowdsourcing’ consultation and survey process which will gather input on the content and delivery of its programs, including  the annual Media Democracy Days (MDD) conference in November 2014.  The goal is to integrate the interests and priorities of the broader community into MDP programming, through engagement with groups such as: non-government organizations, social justice groups, past partners, previous sponsors and attendees, the academic community, the public and independent media-makers and supporters.

Start: ASAP

Time Commitment: 12 hrs/wk for 12 weeks

Compensation: $19/hr

Seeking an Events Coordinator (Volunteer Position)

Overview

onlineCMNSpicWe are seeking a personable and highly organized individual to aid in the coordination of the CounterCulture Speaker Series, approximately 3 events from January, 2014 to April, 2014.

A partnership between the Media Democracy Project and SFU’s Institute for Humanities, CounterCulture is a discussion and screening series aimed at engaging interested members of the public in critical debate on issues relating to art, media and politics. CounterCulture aims to promote the democratic ideals of dissent, debate and discussion, constituting a point of contact between the university and local communities through free, public events held at SFU’s downtown Harbour Centre campus. CounterCulture will help to create a significant presence for non-commercial media in Canada.

Seeking an Online Communications Coordinator (Volunteer Position)

We are seeking a personable and highly organized individual to create and maintain the Media Democracy Project’s online and social media presence.

The Online Communications Coordinator will be responsible for: searching online sources for timely items about media democracy; creating engaging and relevant daily Facebook and Twitter posts; scheduling the posts via HootSuite; creating a ‘Weekly Roundup’ from each week’s posts; promoting Media Democracy Project’s (MDP) events via social media and the MDP website; and, providing assistance in updating the MDP website as needed.

We’re Hiring a Part-Time Assistant Coordinator!

Overview

mddwantsyouThe Assistant Coordinator is a PAID POSITION primarily responsible for fundraising follow-up, community outreach, student involvement, volunteer coordination, and supervision of the Media Fair Coordinator.

The Assistant Coordinator position requires excellent time management, organizational, and written/oral communication skills and the ability to respond to emails and phone calls in a timely manner. The Assistant Coordinator is a team player that wants to help develop MDD Committee ideas and themes and work closely with the Lead Coordinator in establishing deadlines and expectations.
